Are you looking for a different method to create fun pumpkins this year for Halloween? Usually the whole day is spent carving out witches, ghosts, and scary jack-o-lantern designs on various sizes of pumpkins. After looking around the web painting pumpkins seemed like a good idea. With Zig Posterman Markers we were able to create paint marker pumpkins in minutes without the fear of knives or the mess.

You will want to use markers no larger than 6mm for anything detailed. Kids might be able to use 15mm markers on a larger pumpkin to make faces. The grasp of the marker is easy for kids to use. The result is not messy, like painting with a traditional brush and paint. In addition the 15mm can be used to create background color.

Be sure to use the Waterproof Zig Posterman Markers since you may be displaying your pumpkins outside.  These markers are manufactured waterproof and will not come off in the rain!

Wash and dry the pumpkin before adding any paint. Add the paint in layers if you intend to use multiple colors. Apply the background color first and allow this color to dry for about 10 min or so, or until dry to the touch. Then you can add the foreground color right on top of your previous color. You may want to use a variety of tips. The black and yellow on this pumpkin were done with a big and broad chisel tip and the white was done with a 2mm bullet tip. If make a mistake or decide you don’t like your design, you can wipe the pumpkin clean with ammonia based cleaner such as Windex and start all over.

Use any color on your pumpkin since they are very opaque, consequently you can not see through the marks that are made!

Important Safety information!

Be sure that if you use Paint Markers for your paint marker pumpkins with children that they carry the AP seal and they are are certified to contain no materials that are toxic or injurious to children.

Most of all you should also be sure that the caps comply to a safety standard that reduces the risk of asphyxiation.
