The “Creative Jewish Mom” came up with a simple solution to those that do not want to be bothered with painting wine bottles with chalkboard paint. Just use dark colored bottles for your wine Bottle DIY project!
In her blog this time last fall she said, “You really don’t have to go through all that trouble of painting the bottles, especially for fall when dark wine bottles look ju
st fine as they are! And let me tell you, painting those bottles was a bit tedious, not to mention toxic. I’m so happy to share with you this super simple project!”
Paint markers like the Zig Posterman 6mm chisel tip or the 2mm bullet point marker are used directly on the wine Bottle glass.
What’s even better if you make a mistake just clean off the bottle or your mistake area with a little Windex, or any cleaner with ammonia in it. Then on to finish your design!
While our “Creative Jewish Mom” advises you could use metallic markers for something more sophisticated or elegant, these fall colors really shine. We think the orange and yellow on the black bottle create a festive fall feel. The leaves are starting to change here in the Cohas studio back yard, plus all the local orchards are in full swing with U-Pick apples. These decorations bring us home and would look great on our table or yours!
Our new friend even provides us hints on label removal. Try soaking overnight, if water based glue is used they will slip right off. We agree with her, “lucky you if they do!” If they don’t use a inexpensive oil and a tall container to soak them. The oil can be reused for more bottles.

Others have used Oops or other chemical techniques, sometimes a hair dryer will help without any liquids at all.
Be sure to visit the Creative Jewish Mom weblog for more design ideas, many include other media and pallet types.
