A close look at ChalkFlex compared to Chalkboard Paint, Vinyl or Paper with a magnifying glass

Cohas Chalkboard Systems ChalkFlex products include quality material with a texture resembling antique chalkboards. They are perfect for use in homes, restaurants, bars, pubs and businesses!  This flexible but stiff plastic chalkboard is better than chalkboard paint, and other DIY chalkboard options on the market today.

If you have been thinking about using chalkboard paint, chalkboard vinyl or chalkboard contact paper, think again. Cohas ChalkFlex will not tear or stick to itself during installation. Thicker than other “chalkboard on a roll” options, ChalkFlex will not bubble, fold, crease or stick to where it should not when applying.

The plastic polymer is coated with an adhesive that removes when you want it to, not when you don’t expect it to. ChalkFlex is 100% nonporous, resulting in no staining of the surface under the installation. When applied over chalkboard paint it will cover up the mess made on your wall from chalk and chalk markers.

ChalkFlex 2-5 times thicker, 8 times stiffer than Chalkboard Paint Vinyl or Contact Paper

Twice as Thick, Eight Times Stiffer than Other Chalkboard Options

ChalkFlex is an adhesive plastic polymer that features a modern slate gray, textured chalkboard surface. Its unique composition means it is sturdier and thicker than regular vinyl. This allows for a better coverage and ability to hide imperfections and air bubbles, as well as easier application.

  • Painted and unpainted surfaces;
  • Walls, even over chalkboard paint or chalkboard vinyl;
  • Signboards, coroplast, plastic inserts and sign panels;
  • Doors and cabinets;

Cohas ChalkFlex Chalkboard Application

ChalkFlex is easily applied to any smooth surface, even on a curved surface. Installation is not recommended for sharp or 90-degree corners. Before application, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and at room temperature for best results.

Begin installation by removing the paper backing from one corner of the material. Then place the material against the surface in the desired position. Continuously apply pressure to the face of the material and smoothing it over while removing the backing. Continue until all of the backing is off.

Positioning

Chalkflex can be relocated immediately upon application. It is recommended that the material be moved within the first five (5) minutes of application. If left in place, it is recommended that it be left to cure for at least 24 hours before attempting to remove. Some residue may be left behind, but will clean easily with rubbing or soapy water.

Care

The ChalkFlex surface is easy to clean and reuse. When using wet-wipe liquid chalk markers, simply wipe with a damp cloth. For waterproof markers, use Windex or an ammonia based cleaner. When using regular chalk “dustless” and “dust-free” chalk not recommended as the binders may scratch the board.

Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals that can scratch the material’s surface. Magic Eraser and other heavy cleaning products will ruin the surface of ChalkFlex.

Do not use heavy pressure when writing on the material.

Safety

Did you know most chalkboard paint has volatile organic compounds? Imported chalkboard vinyl is made with lead and a plasticizer called phthalate ester to make it flexible. Did you know this can leach out of your chalkboard? It is important to know, ortho-phthalate DHEHP has been banned in children’s products here in the United States since 2007.

All Cohas chalkboard products made from materials sourced right here in America.
